As much as I was disappointed about Jesse Eisenberg not getting best actor and The Social Network not getting best picture (despite knowing that neither would likely win, I was still hoping), I think I’m more disappointed that Banksy didn’t win for Exit Through The Gift Shop.
I took cutie for a ride in my deathcab She tipped me with a kiss I dropped her off at the meth lab Before she left she made a dashboard confessional And spilled her guts in cursive but whats worse is I could still see her bright eyes like sunny day real estate Oh my and in a funny way the ceiling tastes So high but no chance My little chemical romance left a bad taste in my mouth But I approached her like hey mercedes why the long face Why you cryin? theres no need Just put on this coheed and fallout Boy meets girl jimmy eat world But Schlep eats pills till hes all out Not once not twice she was thrice times a lady Mackin on brand new, but I had to Bounce over to the postal service to Pick up these pills that take care of my nervousness And all the way I saw planes and mistook ‘em for stars She played games but she took em too far At the drive in Watching soft porn and you can tell By the trail of the dead, that there was somethin in the popcorn I hop in my cab destination midtown Just to get up with some kids that like to get down I’d made my rounds and that was that In between the frowns and scraps and heart attacks And I remember I seen her ass in early november On a Thursday taking back Sunday for a refund She shot a wink like no hard feelings Then she jetted to brazil man them pills had me spun
This song is from Gym Class Heroes’ The Papercut Chronicles album released by Decaydance & Fueled By Ramen on February 22, 2005.
This is probably my favorite Gym Class Heroes’ album. I love this song, and kind of forgot about it.
I’m not sure how I feel about this song. The vocals are great, and it’s a good pop song, but it wasn’t really what I was hoping to hear from the band on this new album. I could definitely see it growing on me though; I guess I was just hoping for more of a pop punk sound. It kind of reminded me of Boys Like Girls at parts, especially the little intro. I’m interested to see what the rest of the album sounds like.
Now off to listen to “Time Bomb” by The Format, the obviously superior song. haha
“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, and — in spite of True Romance magazines — we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely — at least, not all the time — but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don’t see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”—Hunter S. Thompson (via fuckyeahexistentialism)
If I made a tumblr where I did like actual writing would people actually read it? I want to start a big girl blog where I actually, you know, attempt to be a journalist so I can get a job in the future. It’d mostly just be me getting sassy about the music industry and basically whoring out bands I like but in a professional manner. I’m just debating if I should do it here, or use like wordpress or something else like that.
Like, I’m not even kidding. It’s kind of ridiculous. I don’t even want to think of how much money I’ve spent on merch over the years. What’s worse is I tend to wear the same ones over and over again and half of them are so terribly ill-fitting and are too small or too large. I don’t know if I should a. try and sell some b. just give them away or c. try and come up with something crafty to do with some of them.
Hey everybody, we are pleased to be letting you know that we will be releasing a new EP this spring with our friends at Topshelf Records. We are recording it right now and we will give you more details very soon. Have a great day!
So stoked. Best dudes. Hoping to post the interview I did with Ben sometime before the end of the weekend.
All I could picture was the scene in Almost Famous where they’re singing about getting their picture on the cover of Rolling Stone and I was just questing all over youtube to find it and post it but was unsuccessful.
P.S. go vote so this image in my mind can become a reality.
“You believe in God, and another does not believe in God, so your beliefs separate you from each other. Belief throughout the world is organized as Hinduism, Buddhism, or Christianity, and so it divides man from man. We are confused, and we think that through belief we shall clear the confusion; that is, belief is superimposed on the confusion, and we hope that confusion will thereby be cleared away. But belief is merely an escape from the fact of confusion; it does not help us to face and to understand the fact but to run away from the confusion in which we are. To understand the confusion, belief is not necessary, and belief only acts as a screen between ourselves and our problems. So, religion, which is organized belief, becomes a means of escape from what is, from the fact of confusion. The man who believes in God, the man who believes in the hereafter, or who has any other form of belief, is escaping from the fact of what he is. Do you not know those who believe in God, who do puja, who repeat certain chants and words, and who in their daily life are dominating, cruel, ambitious, cheating, dishonest? Shall they find God? Are they really seeking God? Is God to be found through repetition of words, through belief? But such people believe in God, they worship God, they go to the temple every day, they do everything to avoid the fact of what they are and such people you consider respectable because they are yourself.”—Jiddu Krishnamurti, The Book of Life (via adsertoris)
